Martin Kimeldorf has enjoyed working on the leading edge of new movements and trends. His innovative titles have established multiple firsts.
He wrote the first commercially available books on job clubs for young people, intergenerational programming, leisure wellness for adults, career portfolios, and mainstreaming people with disabilities on the mainstage.
He has offered to donate the proceeds from his bicycling books and breast cancer essays to bike clubs and advocacy organizations.
Kimeldorf is a self-taught computer guy. In the 1970s he helped several publishers adopt laser printers as inexpensive alternatives to traditional print-proofing.
Kimeldorf signed one of the first digital book contracts with Bibliobytes in the 1980s, later logged on with Seattle’s premier pioneer in dot-com publishing (www.publishingonline) in the 1990s, and now is working to distribute eBooks through Lightning Source.
He has won awards and recognition for playwriting, teaching and various essays and articles.
In Tumwater Kimeldorf has enjoyed bicycling the scenic byways of Puget Sound, digital photography teaching classes and workshops, grilling martini-brined salmon, investigating mixology, sharing his photos online, playing his blue’s harp (harmonica) for his dog FrankyLou, and participating in various community causes with his wife Judy.
